The Herschel Little America Back and Why It's Become an Iconic Staple

If it’s one thing we are great at doing here at Herschel, it’s designing a product with versatility at the forefront. Since the release in 2010, the popularity for the Little America backpack has grown, seeing it fast become a favourite for everyday wear. Being the most recognisable of all Herschel products, there’s a big chance you’ve already seen one today!

The Little America backpack, (along with 60 other designs from our Classics line), has seen a redesign. After experimenting with products derived from plants, as well as recycled materials, our Classics line are now made using EcoSystem™ 600D Fabric and Liner, which is made from 100% recycled post-consumer water bottles.

The durability of the EcoSystem™ fabric means you will get a lot of uses out of it - for a long time – while also making the task of cleaning your backpack easy.

The glow up of our most iconic backpack doesn’t just stop at the fabric.

Still drawing inspiration from mountaineering, the retro aesthetics of the Little America backpack haven’t changed. The magnet fastened buckle straps create an easy access into the main compartment with a drawstring feature for extra security of your belongings. The front pocket, while fastened with magnet strips, also has a zip to keep small essentials safe.

The laptop/device sleeve inside the main compartment is lined with synthetic fleece to deter the risk of scratches. We have now added a side zipper near the straps, for quick and easy access to your laptop or device.

A new feature we’ve added the hidden pocket in the top lid. Using the lid space, we have created a hidden pocket accessible via zip at the back above the shoulder straps, which goes deep into the lid with a key clip attached. We have also added pocket on each side for you to easily store and secure your water bottle or reusable cup/bottle of your choice!

The base of the Little America backpack is sturdy and constructed so it stands upright, while also being comfortable to wear and not too bulky. The benefit of this feature means anything sitting in the bottom of your backpack will remain in place and protected. With easy-to-wear adjustable EVA padded shoulder straps, carry your belongings with ease while the added sternum strap creates extra support

Available in 2 sizes, you have the choice from the 21L (H43cm x W28cm x D14cm) and 30L (H49cm x W29cm x D18cm). Both sizes can comfortably and securely fit a 15” and 16” laptop.

As everyone uses their bags for different purposes, it’s crucial to know if the Little America is suited to you and your needs.
